The Wise Planter provides a visual cue when your plant needs water.
Forget self-watering planters! They limit the kinds of plants you can grow, and are prone to spilling and leaking on your woodwork. The Wise Planter is a water-assist 3D printed planter. You’ll know at a glance if your plant needs water. There are no wet, moldy reservoirs like a self watering planter, and no electronics to short out like some smart planters. The Wise Planter uses basic physics to visually display the needs of your desktop plants!
The inner pot sits on a high quality spring which rests against the outer base. As the soil loses moisture, the pot (black part) slowly rises while the base (white part) remains in place. Eventually an adjustable red indicator ring is revealed to remind you to water. The ring can be moved up and down on the pot to accommodate all kinds of plants, from rainforest ferns to desert succulents.
The Wise Planter is designed (by OpenFab) to last for many years of use and multiple plantings. Plants can be safely removed from the planter and re-potted as needed. All parts of this 3D printed planter are made with PLA plastic.
